THE CONOR THORN SERIES

Writing The Torch Betrayal, the first in a series of novels that feature OSS Agent Conor Thorn, allowed Glenn Dyer to immerse himself in the cataclysmic, world-shaping event that was World War II — a subject that has fascinated me since my youth.

The period of the 1930's and the war years of 1939 to 1945, to this day, still produce multitudes of histories, stories, biographies, and memoirs. The availability of once secret documents from the archives of Great Britain, the United States and other countries involved in the conflict, have proved to be a trove of fascinating facts and information.

Over the years, Dyer's research of World War II has taken him to hotbeds of wartime activity such as Paris, Lyon, Lisbon, London, Normandy, and Rome. Dyer admits that the research phase of writing the novels in the Conor Thorn Series is the most enjoyable phase. Actually, too enjoyable as it keeps him from diving into the outlining (yes, he outlines!) and writing phases. When he is researching, Dyer is looking for little known mysteries that sprouted event that occurred in the European Theatre. Mysteries that seemed to have no final outcomes, thereby inspiring a writer like Dyer to offer up fictional conclusions that he hopes are compelling and entertaining.

Dyer's professional career has been spent in the commercial broadcasting business, primarily with Fox Television Stations, Inc. serving as the vice president and general manager of four of their TV stations, most recently WTTG Fox 5 and WDCA My20 in Washington D.C. Serving as a general manager for eighteen years, he oversaw all aspects of running large media organizations. While in Washington, DC, among his numerous responsibilities, he wrote editorials for countless newscasts, but his primary passion has always been writing fiction.

The four books in the Conor Thorn Series have been well received by readers and editorial organizations such as Kirkus, Foreword/Clarion, Military Writers Society of America, Best Thriller Books, BookLife/Publishers Weekly, Indie Reader, Book Trib, BlueInk Reviews, and The Real Book Spy. He is very grateful that bestselling authors such as Steve Berry, Jack Carr, James R. Benn, and Alex Finlay have been kind enough to lend some praise in regard to the series.

The most recent novel in the Conor Thorn Series, Trust No One, was an Award Finalist for Historical Fiction from the Military Writers Society of America, was short listed in the 2023 Hemingway Award for 20th Century Wartime Fiction and was a finalist in the 2023 Global Thriller Awards for High Stakes Suspense Fiction.

After thirty-seven years in the broadcasting industry, his wife Chris and he moved back to Park City, Utah where I have been writing full time. I miss living in such a dynamic city as Washington, DC, but relish our time in the mountain desert.

They have three children, Thomas, Michael and Riley, and four beautiful grandchildren. All of whom live too far away.

Dyer is an active member of the International Thriller Writers, The Authors Guild, and The OSS Society. He attended Villanova University and graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcasting & Film.

He looks back fondly on his years growing up in the great state of New Jersey.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

"The most dramatic events in WWII happened in the shadows—and that's exactly where I want to take readers."

Glenn Dyer's passion for WWII intelligence history began long before his writing career. A lifelong student of the conflict's shadow operations—from OSS field agents to British double-cross networks—he spent years researching the forgotten operatives, betrayals, and narrow escapes that shaped the war's outcome.

That research became the foundation for Conor Thorn: an American OSS officer operating in occupied Europe, where every ally is a potential threat and every mission could be the last. Dyer's commitment to historical accuracy means every operation, location, and piece of tradecraft in the novels has roots in the real historical record.
